A lot of people think that because I'm a rapper that I only listen to (or mostly listen to) rap music. Obviously, I like a lot of rap music, but my tastes in music are pretty diverse.
You might be surprised by this, but my inspirations include everyone from Michael Jackson to Willie Nelson to Loretta Lynn, and on my iPod right now, I'm listening to Amy Winehouse.
A friend recently asked me if I could bring back three musicians from the dead, who would I choose? I said I couldn't pick just three! Naturally, I'd bring Tupac back from the dead if I could, and The Notorious B.I.G. But, I'd also love to jam with Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. That would be such a trip. It would also be cool to talk about music and songwriting with Marvin Gaye and Freddie Mercury.
Even though rap is my main thing, there's a lot out there and I like all kinds of musical styles. Anything goes with music. Maybe someday, I'll do a hip hop version of "Imagine" by John Lennon or "The Boys of Summer" by Don Henley. Rap is great, but exploring can be a trip too.
